Opportunities in Cleantech

I went to a Cleantech Roundtable Discussion today up in Santa Monica which consisted of speakers ranging from Steve Westly to the Mayor of Santa Ana. The talk was kicked off by the moderator asking Steve Westly what he thought were the big opportunities in clean technology. Steve outlined four major areas of opportunities within the next decade: 1. Utilities – Especially as it releates to Smart Grid technology 2. Building Materials 3. Batteries – Esp. for electric vehicles 4. Recycling Cleantech is obviously an area where there will be... Read The Rest →

Poly-phasic Sleep Experiment

I was talking to my buddy Dennis, during one of our Santa Ana River bike rides yesterday evening, about a lifehack experiment that I have been meaning to look more into called polyphasic sleep. This allows you to reduce sleep time to 2-6 hours of sleep daily, without dampening your energy level, which if it... Read The Rest →

Desiderata by Max Ehrman

My friend Jon sent me this awesome poem by Max Ehrman Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be... Read The Rest →

Digital Advertising

I went to OCTANE OC’s “Digital Advertising” event yesterday and had the opportunity to meet a lot of super interesting advertising execs including Ryan Steelberg of Brand Affinity. My key takeway of the night was the importance of multichannel advertising. The VP of Interactive Media from the OC Register even talked about the Register’s plan on changing to become a service provider of advertising across platforms, whether it is print, online, or billboards, rather than their old model, which was selling adspace in its newspapers. The Register recognizes that it... Read The Rest →

Adoption Curve for Health IT Applications

If you’ve ever read the “Innovator’s Dilemma” or Moore’s “Crossing the Chasm”, you know that there is a wide technological adoption gap between early adopters and the so-called masses. Within the last week and a half, I’ve had a lot of conversations about Personal Health Records and their future. Since, I’ve started on my health 2.0 project, I keep hearing about concerns regarding privacy. The concerns about HIPAA and user privacy have been brought up more times than I can care to count. It’s true, we are a while away... Read The Rest →
