Poly-phasic Sleep Experiment

I was talking to my buddy Dennis, during one of our Santa Ana River bike rides yesterday evening, about a lifehack experiment that I have been meaning to look more into called polyphasic sleep. The concept is simple.. Instead of sleeping a full 6-8 hour block each night, the idea is to break your sleep patterns in to smaller chunks of 15-45 minute naps and one core sleep period. This allows you to reduce sleep time to 2-6 hours of sleep daily, without dampening your energy level, which if it works, is great if you’re a startup entrepreneur and could use more working hours in your day.

Sleep experiments are popular among many bloggers. It reportedly takes 7-14 days for your body to acclimate to this polyphasic napping schedule. In a study conducted by WedMD’s Dr. Breus, Steve Pavlina documented his 5-month sleep experiment..

I’m going to read up on it a little more and make a decision on whether to go through with the experiment. I’m working 8-10 hour days right now on my business. If this napping schedule can free up more time during the night, that’d be amazing.
